Matthew Timothy Gann passed away May 9, 2008 in his hometown in Georgia. He is survived by his parents Gene and Jonny Brooks Gann, Mike and Angel Capo, sisters Jamie and Derrick Henton, Amanda Wallin; brother, Carlus and Resa Gann; and a handful of friends that were his Arcata family: Rachel Brooks, Chris Bauer, Andy Mcentee, Sean Smith and Tracy Long to name a few. Matt is preceded in death by his best buddy James (Jimbo) Floyd, 31, but the two of them are back together now.

Matt made Arcata his home for eight years and was a well known face about town. He worked at many of the local businesses such as The Alibi, Mazzotti’s, and Wildberries. Matt was a lover of skateboarding, bike riding and snowboarding when his body was cooperating, and an avid gun enthusiast. He had a passion for music, and spent time perfecting his skills on the turn tables. He was an Art Major at College of the Redwoods and was just shy of getting his AA degree. Matt’s kind heart was his most outstanding characteristic. He was well loved and will be missed immensely by so many.

There will be a memorial service for him on Saturday May 17, 2008 at 5 p.m. at Moonstone Beach. BYOB
