Dear Editor,
Citizens in Favor of Measure C thank the McKinleyville community for its support of this important measure in the June election. The success of this measure ensures that our already excellent local schools; Dow’s Prairie Elementary, Morris Elementary and McKinleyville Middle School can now experience critical safety and technology upgrades which would not have been possible otherwise. These improvements will significantly benefit students in these schools today and those who will attend in the years to come.
Many local businesses and community members offered their extensive help, both physical and financial, in bringing this dream to reality. Special thanks go out to Macky and Dena McCullough, Scott Oilar, Jane Rowland, Terrie and Harold Smith, John and Vickie Carmesin, Janelle Jones, Rachelle McCullough, Jessica Russell, Monica Brock, Alissa Johnson, Michelle Lonn, Dorothy Cox, Maureen Hester, Michael Davies-Hughes, Gary Reec, Skip Jorgensen, Brian Collard, Phyllis Nolan, Barb Kelly, Anne Hartline, North Valley Bank, Renner Petroleum, and A&I Roofing. In addition, several out-of-area businesses contributed to the campaign.
Thank you, McKinleyville voters for looking past the rhetoric and voting to do the right thing to benefit local students and schools. We know you will continue to be proud of the accomplishments of McKinleyville Schools and the students they serve.
Vickie Carmesin
