What — another cause of dread diseases? The Center for Health, Environment & Justice warns us that vinyl shower curtains emit toxic chemicals.
The organization put a research team on the subject for two years and concluded that the “new shower curtain” smell you smell at the store is that of toxic chemicals that will linger in the air for as a much as month after you install it in your shower. These chemicals have been linked to damage to the liver, central nervous system and reproductive system.
The Center didn’t offer a solution, although cotton shower curtains come to mind (they do need to be laundered from time to time). What’s next, a discovery that soap is toxic?
