A 41-year-old transient was arrested Monday morning after he allegedly brandished a knife at a doughnut shop clerk and stole a cup of coffee, the Eureka Police Department reported.
The robbery occurred at Happy Donuts in the 2900 block of Central Avenue and the report came into the EPD at 6:53 a.m., the EPD stated in a news release. It was reported that the suspect had allegedly brandished a fixed-blade knife at the clerk and stole a cup of coffee.
The suspect, later identified as Eureka transient Michael Allenbrand, reportedly left the store, but stayed in the immediate area.
A witness pointed Allenbrand out to two officers, who briefly held him at gunpoint, the EPD said. Allenbrand then complied with officers’ commands and was taken into custody without incident. The fixed-blade knife was found on him, the EPD stated.
The suspect was arrested and booked into the Humboldt County jail on suspicion of armed robbery.
